MacBook Air 2022 redesign delay

A bit longer yet to wait for revamped laptop

-

If you’ve been holding out for a new MacBook Air, you might have to wait a little longer. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a good track record when it comes to Apple’s future plans, has claimed the company will release a freshly redesigned MacBook Air in the third quarter of 2022, from early July to late September.

That’s a new estimate on the shipping date, and later than was initially predicted. Kuo had previously asserted that the new MacBook Air would splash down around the middle of 2022. So instead of a possible late spring or early summer timeframe, we might have to wait until almost October. Still, if the rumours are correct, there’s a lot to look forward to. Alongside a new Apple silicon chip and a high-quality miniLED display, the updated MacBook Air is expected to come in a range of bright, fun colours much like the 24-inch iMac. That could help it project a more light-hearted tone compared to the more serious MacBook Pro, while simultaneously evoking the classic iBook G3.

Alongside Kuo, reporter Mark Gurman has also shed light on the upcoming Air, saying it will come with two USB4 ports, a thinner design, and a MagSafe connector. With all these new features in the works, the wait should be worth it.
