AirPlay to Mac

-

AirPlay now lets you send rich media including audio, video, photos and even played-back Keynote presentations from your iPhone, iPad or another Mac to your Mac to be played there. If the receiving Mac has a large display or feeds your audio system, this is a simple way for smaller mobile devices to make the most of going big. It’s been a strange omission from macOS which Monterey finally puts right.

Connecting your device the more convenient way using Wi-Fi does add a slight time lag to playback due to the network, which should be fine if you’re using your Mac primarily as an audio player. If you need perfect sync between them for a presentation, connect them directly using a USB cable. AirPlay is simplest if both systems are using the same Apple ID, but can also be set up in the Sharing pane for anyone on the same network, or everyone if you want.

When playing content from apps such as Keynote or Photos on Mac, you can choose whether to mirror the display on your device, or extend it by using the Mac as a secondary display.

?? ?? Once enabled on your Mac, connect as you would to any other AirPlay device.
