MacBook Air in line for update

Leakers and reporters all chime in with potential new features

-

Apple has been on a Mac redesign spree lately, having reimagined both the 24-inch iMac and the MacBook Pro with new features both inside and out. Now, it appears the MacBook Air is next in line, and several leakers and analysts have provided additional details on what we could see when the device launches next year.

In May 2021, leaker Jon Prosser claimed the next MacBook Air would come in a range of colours like the iMac. Now, he has shared new renders that double down on this claim. The renders also show the same white screen borders as the iMac and a similar display notch as is found on the new MacBook Pro. As well as that, reporter Mark Gurman has claimed the new MacBook Air will come with Apple’s next-generation M2 chip and will launch around April to June 2022. He also believes it could be the biggest Air redesign since 2010.

And Twitter leaker Dylandkt, who has been accurate in the past, has added a litany of details, including the idea that the MacBook Air will give up its famous wedge shape. As well as that, they predict it will feature a 1080p webcam, a MagSafe port, multiple colour options, and will support at least two displays. ProMotion, Face ID, and an SD card slot will not be present, while a miniLED display and a notch are possible, they claim.
