HOW TO Share audio and video from iPhone or iPad

-

1 Pick a tune

Open your music app – here we’re using Apple’s own – and find the song you want to share. In the app, bring up the Now Playing screen. You should now see the AirPlay logo in the centre at the bottom of the screen.

2 Pick a destination

You should now see a menu listing the available AirPlay devices, with little icons to indicate what kind of device each one is. Simply tap the speaker or other device you want to share your music to and it’ll start playing.

3 Pick a podcast

You can send audio from other apps too, so for example you can use AirPlay with Spotify or with many podcast apps. Here we’re using Apple’s own Podcasts app, which once again has the AirPlay control in the lower middle.

4 Control it all

You can control AirPlay from your Lock Screen while music is playing; the AirPlay button is just to the right of the song name and artist, and it’s blue to indicate that AirPlay is on. Tap it to switch speakers or pause playback.

5 Make memories bigger

AirPlay lives inside your iPhone and iPad’s Photos app too. If you go into your library you can AirPlay individual images or clips using the Share icon, and you’ll find AirPlay in the share sheet for your memories too.

6 Make movies massive

AirPlay is also built into many video apps, and into Safari, so you can send YouTube videos to your TV or other AirPlay device. When we tap the smart Samsung TV listed here, it’ll simply power on and start playing the clip.
