THE WINNER LastPass

-

AFull coverage of other systems and an excellent interface

ll six password managers do their job at least as well as macOS can, and each offers additional features which go some way to justifying their cost.

Only three – 1Password, LastPass, and Secrets – are apps which have been developed to run native on macOS; with Secrets being a particular joy to use.

While Secrets should prove ideal if you don’t want to pay a subscription, its limited support for non-Apple systems is a major constraint for many. If you want a high-quality app with a welldesigned interface and support for all Apple’s systems as well as Windows, Linux, and Android, we preferred LastPass over 1Password, for its friendlier features such as easy copying of usernames and passwords.

However, the next version of 1Password is expected to switch to using Electron instead of being native, and to remove some of its stronger features such as the optional use of local vaults, which can only help to further secure LastPass its winning place.
