Apple’s classified design labs revealed
> Design magazine Wallpaper* has been granted access to Apple’s secretive design labs, revealing some interesting insights. For instance, when it came to creating the first AirPods prototypes, Apple worked with academics to scan thousands of ears to learn how to design for both the inner and outer ear.
There are many other interesting anecdotes, from how tricky it was to get the right tap sensation on the Apple Watch to how important typography is to the company. Apple’s SF Symbols font offers over 100,000 symbol combinations, while SF Camera was created specifically for the Camera app with the idea of feeling ‘boxy’ and analogue.
