HOW TO Tame startup items
1 Remove login items
Click on the menu and choose System Preferences. Click on Users & Groups and select the user whose login items you want to manage. Click Login Items. Check the box next to the item you want to remove and click ‘–‘.
2 Add login items
You can make any app, document, folder, or server connection open automatically when you login. In System Preferences > Users & Groups > User > Login Items, click ‘+’, navigate to the item and click Add.
3 Hide login items
If you want to launch an item at login but don’t want its window to be visible, select it in System Preferences > Users & Groups > User > Login Items and check the box next to Hide. Note: you can’t hide servers in Finder.
