HOW TO Turn vertical shots to horizontal

1 Extend background

Open a vertical portrait shot that you want to convert to a horizontal landscape shape. Click on the Guided tab at the top of the page. Click on the Special Edits tab. Click on the new Extend Background Guided Edit window.

2 Choose a size

Click the Set Canvas Size menu for options. Choose a shape for your image such as a Twitter Post. This extends the canvas with transparent pixels. You have the option to modify which sides of the shot are extended.

3 Autofill

Click Autofill. This analyses the shot and fills any transparent edges with appropriate pixels such as sand and sky. You can then use the Clone Stamp Tool to tidy up problem areas such as an uneven horizon.
