RECENTS REMOVAL

-

I’ve noticed that the Recents folder contains numerous files. Some websites advise you to delete its contents, others warn against it. BY JOHN GOFF

The Recents folder shows you a list of items you have recently used or created on your Mac, and is effectively a ‘smart’ search result that you can easily hide. To remove the Recents menu option from the Finder sidebar, go to Finder > Preferences and untick the Recents item at the top. And to stop the Finder automatically showing the Recents folder when you open a new Finder window, go to Finder > Preferences > General and under ‘New Finder windows show’, choose an alternative option aside from Recents in the menu there. Do not delete any items from the Recents folder – unless you really do want them gone for good.
