HOW TO Get the most from Messages

1 Turn on sharing

In order that content appears in Shared with You, it needs to be enabled in Messages. Click the Messages menu and choose Preference­s. Click Shared with You, then click Turn On to enable it for all the apps listed.

2 Turn on for non-contacts

By default, Shared with You only adds content from people in your Contacts. To add content from someone else, select the conversati­on then click the Conversati­ons menu and choose ‘Show in Shared with You’.

3 View and save photos

Click the grid icon above a stack of photos in a message to see all the photos shared with you. Click, or ç-click for multiple photos. The one you want to save and click the Save icon in the top right of the window.

4 View links in Safari

In Safari > Preference­s > General, set ‘New tabs open with’ to Start Page. Open a new tab and click the Settings icon at the bottom right, then check the ‘Shared with You’ box to add that section to the Start Page.

5 Open links in Safari

In the Shared with You section, ≈-click on a link thumbnail and choose how you want to open it. To reply to the message in which it was sent, choose Reply. Or, click the sender’s name to go directly to that message.

6 View more shares

Launch the Apple News, Podcasts, or TV app and click in the Shared with You section in the sidebar. Click on an item to open it in the app. Or, ≈-click it to see more options. Click the sender’s name to go to the message.
