HOW TO Get the best from the Music app

1 See all your stuff

Your existing library should now appear in the Artists, Albums, Songs and Music Videos sections. As you can see the interface is identical to Apple Music, and if the artist has included lyrics in their MP3s, you can sing along.

2 Create Smart Playlists

Smart Playlists enable you to create constantly updated playlists based on whatever rules you add. Go to File > New > Smart Playlist and select one or more rules to filter your music. We’re going for low-key tunes we’ve clicked Love on.

3 Restore ratings

Apple clearly wants to get rid of star ratings in favour of more basic love/ dislike choices, but you can bring them back: click Songs in the sidebar then go to View > Show View Options > Rating to see and add star ratings out of five.
