Master the options available in the iTunes Store

-

For those who want to own their music rather than rent it, the iTunes Store is your friend. But it’s wise to ensure you download (and backup, with Time Machine at the very least) everything you buy: if something is removed from the Store, it’s gone and you can’t re-download it. Purchases are associated with the Apple ID that bought them, so if you have multiple Apple IDs you won’t see your other IDs’ purchases. If you have Music or iTunes and haven’t ticked View > All Music you won’t see any purchases you haven’t downloaded. And if you delete or hide music from one of your devices, it’ll disappear from your other ones too. To unhide purchased tracks, go into Music on your Mac and click iTunes Store > Account

> Downloads and Purchases > Hidden Purchases > Manage. If the iTunes link is not there, enable it in Music > Preferences

> General > Show > iTunes Store.
