When it comes to protecting your devices, Bitdefender has led the way for the past few years, and in terms of protection it’s still up there with the best. Its core antivirus product is competitively priced, although it is largely nofrills. Aside from all the expected protection against malware, ransomware, adware, and other nasties, you only get anti-tracker privacy tools and a VPN that offers just 200MB of bandwidth each day.

The app’s main dashboard provides a convenient look at the protection on offer and comes with suggestions for closing loopholes. Key tools are within easy reach, and it proved effective at gobbling up our malware samples to confirm the impressive lab test results. It was, however, the slowest scanner on test.

The built-in VPN is far too limited, so you’ll want to uninstall it. That gripe aside, Bitdefender offers great protection at a good price.
