Apple tightens USB-C security
NEW ACCESSORIES REQUIRE YOUR APPROVAL
> Ever since the GrayKey scandal of 2018, Apple has been trying to prevent external devices from maliciously interacting with its users’ devices and accessing their data. That’s continued in macOS Ventura, which introduces a security feature that requires any accessories connecting to an Apple silicon Mac over USB-C or Thunderbolt to gain explicit user permission before they can run. Power adaptors, external displays, and connections to an approved hub are exempt, and devices will still charge even if you decline them access to macOS. Approved devices can maintain their connection to a locked Mac for up to three days.
