Identify space hogs with DaisyDisk
The idea of cleaning out clutter sounds great, but how do you tell whether IMG0397.jpg should be kept or chucked, or whether untitled3.mov is the one you don’t want to lose? That’s where apps such as DaisyDisk, and similar ones such as Grand Perspective, come in. They do a fast scan of your drive or SSD in a fraction of the time it’d take a human to do the same job, and they then use images to show you where the space hogs are. You can then preview each one and decide whether or not to get rid of them. Although these apps work with any kind of files they’re particularly good for people who work with media such as images or video, where it’s all too easy to end up with stacks of unwanted versions or abandoned projects taking up valuable space.
