“There’s really no one-size-fits way to

create and publish a podcast. Things that influence your decisions include: what are the goals of your podcast – is it for fun? To meet people or serve a community? Get your business’s name out, drive sales, earn money from ads etc? Do you have an extensive budget or does it need to be done on the cheap? Is it intended to be free to the listener, or a paid offering?

Assuming that you want your podcast to be public then the big three are Apple, Google, and Spotify. Most podcast platforms will submit your podcast for you, there are a lot of other podcast directories but most of them will pull their information from Apple.

Podcast hosting platforms are a competitive space but one I really like is captivate.fm, it’s UK-based and innovative, bringing out new features at a surprising rate – there’s a whole ecosystem built around it too, transcripts, websites, podcast players and has good metrics. Buzzsprout.com and podbean.com are also great choices, easy to use, goodlooking, growing with flexible plans to boot.

If you’re recording interviews then platforms such as riverside.fm, zencastr.com, and squadcast.fm will simplify the process and improve sound quality by recording your guests where they are, as opposed to across the web.” Chris is technical consultant at Glisten Media, a podcast production company working with PR, communications specialists and marketing departments.
