Do more in Mail

Mail is great, and it’s about to get better

-

Mail has stayed pretty much the same for many years now. While it’s pleasant enough to use and its features are still very good, it lacks some of the advanced options you’ll find in some third-party email apps such as unsending messages, snoozing emails for later and scheduling when emails should be sent. It also has a pretty horrible search facility that we find endlessly frustrating, especially for remotely hosted email such as Gmail. So while the time-saving features here are all very useful, we’d like Apple to add even more. And the good news is that Apple is finally granting our wish in macOS Ventura, which comes out this autumn.

For Ventura, Mail is getting a significant revamp that should make it even more useful, and while it won’t look much different it’ll be much more powerful. Similar features are coming to iPhone and iPad too.

The new features in Ventura include the Undo Send, Scheduled Send and snooze features we’ve mentioned – Apple calls the latter one Remind Me – but there’s more to the new Mail than that. The search engine has been given a major overhaul, and it’ll now fix your typos and search for synonyms instead of just the specific word or phrase you type. There’s also Safaristyle smart search suggestions that’ll start showing results as you type, and Mail will alert you if you mention an attachment in your email and forget to actually attach it. Last but not least, Rich Links will provide the same kind of preview thumbnails of linked pages that you’re probably used to in social media apps.

?? ?? Mail in macOS Ventura is even better, with new features to help you tame even the busiest inbox.
