Filter messages with Mail Rules

1 Choose your rule

To create a new Mail rule, go into Mail’s Preferences > Rules. Click on the Add Rule button and start with the criteria you want Mail to apply; here we’re using emails from the Substack email service, so our rule is for messages from anything @substack.com.

2 Decide what to do

The next step is to tell Mail what it should do with the message. Here we’re telling it that any messages from an @substack.com address should be moved to our Newsletters mailbox. You can move messages between mail accounts too.

3 Add more actions

You can apply multiple actions. Here we’re applying a colour to the messages to make them stand out, and we’re marking them as read because we don’t need to see a notification when a new newsletter email arrives. Click OK when you’re done to save your new Rule.
