Make Safari smarter
See the web your way with these great features
In addition to its visual redesign, Safari got some important new features in iOS 15. The new Tab Groups feature enables you to create, store and sync groups of web pages with all your Apple devices for instant access whenever you need them, and Safari now has the same Pull To Refresh option as many apps; a little thing that saves lots of time over the day. The start page is completely customisable for faster access to the things you need, and if you have iCloud+ or Apple One then iCloud Private Relay encrypts your website traffic so it can’t be intercepted and read.
You can install content blocker extensions to remove the amount of pop-ups and other nonsense many websites inflict. The per-site settings enable you to customise which ones apply for which websites, should you not want to deprive sites you like of the advertising revenue that keeps them in business (and some content blockers prevent some retail websites from working properly).
Safari’s other time savers have been around for ages; such as autofill for online forms, passwords and credit cards (and Apple Pay for online purchases), and Safari’s search engine suggestions
– which attempt to predict what you’re typing for faster searching.
We’re also big fans of using ⌘+f to look for specific words or phrases in big PDFs and other large online documents; it’s a great way of getting to the meat of a long article without wading through bits you’re not interested in.
