Multitasking and Split View

-

>Apple has been steadily improving iPad multitasking in iPadOS, and the current iteration is the best yet. Tap on the ‘…’ at the top of an app to choose between full screen, Split View and Slide Over modes. Split View puts two apps on your iPad at once and is good for working with images and text. You can use Split View within one app, for example by having two Safari windows open at once or by having two Pages documents side by side. Slide Over is smaller, taking up roughly a third of the screen. It’s useful for research, enabling you to, say, look at a Wikipedia entry as you write in Pages.

There’s going to be a multitasking update in iPadOS 16 in the form of Stage Manager, although it’ll only be available in M1-powered iPads. It has a carousel-style interface and you can resize individual apps. It also works with external displays so you can have different apps open on your iPad and on a connected monitor.
