Customise Control Centre Use Settings > Control Centre to add, remove or reorganise the icons that appear when you swipe down from the top right of your Home Screen. Many icons are interactive, so for example long-pressing the Bluetooth icon shows paired devices, the Wi-Fi one available Wi-Fi networks.
Automate app updates
Ensure that all of your apps are always up to date in Settings > App Store > App Updates. If you wish you can disable updating when you’re on mobile data; this waits until you’re back on Wi-Fi before proceeding.
Use app icon shortcuts
Many app icons bring up useful shortcuts when you long-press them, so for example long-pressing Safari brings up options for Reading List, Bookmarks or new tabs while Camera offers portraits, selfies and video.
Use Face ID when masked
Face ID didn’t initially work if you were wearing a mask and sometimes got confused by glasses. In Settings > Face ID & Passcode add glasses and/or masked views for easier and faster unlocking.
Install Extensions
Safari Extensions now work on Safari in iOS, enabling you to install ad blockers, utilities, price checkers and anything else you might want to add to Apple’s web browser. Find the extensions in the App Store and control them in Settings.
