HOW TO Create a movie on iPad
1 Create a Magic Movie
Open iMovie and tap on the Magic Movie option. Now choose some videos from your Camera Roll and tap Create Magic Movie. It might have to download the movies from iCloud. You’ll see your clips in a list on the left.
2 Edit your clips
Tap the edit button by a clip to drag its edges and resize it. To add titles, tap Title. You can also add music, a voiceover, change the speed of clips or remove them. In the main timeline you can drag clips to rearrange them.
3 Add styles and export
Use the Styles button, top left, to add a movie style, music, title fonts and colours, and video filters. When you’re done tap Export, then Options and choose a resolution. You can now export the project for editing on a Mac.
4 Create a Storyboard
Select Storyboard from the Projects menu, and choose a template, then a style. Use the options along the bottom to customise colours and fonts. Then tap Create to be taken to a screen that lets you add footage.
5 Arrange your project
For each shot you’ll see a description of the kind of footage you can add to create your narrative. Tap Edit on a clip to add footage from the camera or your camera roll. You can edit the clip, its length, speed, titles and more.
6 Finish up and export
Tap, hold and drag clips to rearrange them. You can also add new footage using the ‘+’ button. When you’re done, use the Export option to save the movie out or share it directly to the cloud or via messaging services.
