Is my Studio’s SSD duff? You can’t replicate Apple’s test methods, and best results normally come from the largest SSDs. So measured read speeds of 7GB/sec definitely won’t count, and you’d really need a result significantly lower then 6GB/sec to be conv
Q
My new Mac Studio Ultra has a 2TB internal SSD, but its benchmark test results are well below those reported by others. Can I get its storage replaced?
A
You may be able to, as Mac Studio models are the only Apple silicon Macs whose internal storage isn’t soldered in, instead being fitted in custom sockets. However, this isn’t a task you can attempt yourself: you can’t buy the special SSD modules required, and changing them requires low-level restoration of your Mac, which is best performed by Apple anyway. Before contacting Apple, you will need to assemble convincing evidence that it really is slower than it should be.
Official claimed performance for SSDs in Mac Studios is ‘up to 7.4GB/s when reading’.
