HOW TO Install macOS on an external drive >

1 Prep external drive

Open Disk Utility, select your drive under External and click Erase. Name it ‘Samsung T7’ or similar to easily identify it, then make sure its format is set to APFS and its Scheme to GUID Partition Map before clicking Erase. 2 Download installer

Open the Mac App Store and search for macOS. Click View under Monterey followed by Get and – when prompted – Download. Wait while the file (around 12GB) is downloaded, then open ‘Install macOS Monterey’ from Applications. 3 Install to SSD drive

Click Continue followed by Agree. Select your SSD from the list of available drives and click Continue, then follow the prompts to install macOS on it. Once complete, use System Preferences > Startup Disk to switch to your new drive.
