Verbatim Store ’n’ Go Alu Slim 2TB

£64.95 FROM verbatim-europe.co.uk

- > VERDICT

Although small-scale relative to the likes of Seagate and WD, Verbatim’s slimline drive performed better than most and is the thinnest on test. Its aluminium case has a USB-B port, and comes with a cable to take it to a USB-A port on a Mac; there’s also a USB-A to C adaptor supplied, but that didn’t work here. The case has four small rubber feet, so you can rest it on your Mac. It’s available with a black finish, and in both 1TB and 2TB capacities.

The Verbatim Store ’n’ Go was second fastest on test,

and fine with both file systems. Average read/write speed was an impressive 105/106MB/sec, but its innermost read speed was only 66MB/sec, showing much of this performance comes from the outer zone. Verbatim has high confidence in its durability: in the UK, the drive comes with a two-year limited warranty.
