TURN YOUR PHOTOS INTO A BOOK (OR MUG OR JIGSAW… )
Bring your digital photos to life on a range of products
The problem with shooting digitally on your iPhone is that great shots can often get lost as your photo Library increases in size day by day. You may take the time to create themed albums in Apple’s Photos app and even share these albums with other iCloud users, but many digital images will barely be glanced at for more than a few seconds. A more effective way to give a particular picture more prominence is to print it in a professionally bound photo book, which you can showcase on a coffee table for visitors to flick through. By viewing prints as physical items they are more tangible than pixels on a screen and are therefore deemed to be more valuable and important. However, as physical photo books can still end up gathering dust on a shelf, why not try printing a favourite photo on everyday objects (such as on a coffee cup) so that you can enjoy viewing a favourite picture on a daily basis.
Images on objects
Your desktop printer might do a great job but it’s not geared up to produce professionalquality printed photo books (or perform more complex jobs, such as a printing a shot on a mug or a jigsaw). Fortunately there are plenty of online third-party print providers who can print your shots on a variety of products. Companies such as Mimeo Photos, Saal Digital and Motif all provide similar print services. You can browse through their range of products (mugs, canvas prints, jigsaws, photo books etc) via Safari and upload your shots to their sites.
If creating a photo book you can choose custom layouts and drag your uploaded shots into templates to design the look of your book (see page opposite). Before uploading shots to an online print service it’s worth tweaking colours, tones and sharpness in Photos to make them look their best. You can also place the images for your photo book in a dedicated folder on your Mac so you can find and upload them to the print provider with ease.
