How to force Spotlight to reindex a disk?

> Open the Spotlight pane and select Privacy. Click on the ‘+’ at the lower left and select the volumes on that disk to add them to that list. Close the pane and wait a minute, open it again, select those volumes and remove them using the ‘–’ tool. Re-indexing appears in Activity Monitor’s CPU tab.
