HOW TO Unsend a message in Messages and Mail >
1 Undo send email
When you’ve just sent a message, and Undo Send is enabled in Mail, click on the blue text at the foot of the sidebar to undo that. Don’t delay, as the longest allowed is only 30 seconds before that message is sent.
2 Correct and resend
The unsent message then opens for you to add the attachment you had forgotten, add the information you forgot, or change your mind altogether. When you’re ready to try again, click the Send tool as normal.
3 Set the delay
Undo Send works by imposing a short delay of up to 30 seconds before each message is actually sent in which you can change your mind. Set that delay or turn it off in the Composing section of Mail’s Settings.
4 Unsend messages
To unsend any message, including images and rich content, you sent less than 15 minutes ago, select it in the list of messages, ≈-click to bring up the contextual menu, and there select the Undo Send command.
5 Older destinations
Because older versions of Messages don’t have the Unsend feature, a recipient using older macOS, iOS or iPadOS will still see your message despite you having unsent it. Messages shows a warning to explain that.
6 Change messages
If you’d rather change your message instead of unsending it, select it and ≈-click for the Edit command. Once you’re happy you’ve corrected your errors, press ® to send the edited message.
