Plugable T3 & USB-C Display Dock
£349 FROM plugable.com
Coming with a stand that enables you use it vertically or horizontally, Plugable’s Thunderbolt 3 dock supplies 96W of power to the host Mac laptop and has a total of 14 ports.
On the front, you get one USB-C port and one USB-A 3.2 port, both at 10Gbps, with five USB 3.0 ports at 5Gbps on the rear. There’s Gigabit Ethernet, a combined audio in/out jack plus SD and MicroSD card readers. It’s flexible when it comes to displays, with two HDMI and two DisplayPort connections able to drive up to two 4K 60Hz displays via
Thunderbolt 3 or two 1080p 60Hz displays via USB-C.
It’s better suited to those of us with older peripherals, as it lacks the multiple USB-C ports some others have in favour of USB-A, HDMI and DisplayPort, but it’s no less powerful. Plugable’s dock can charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro in just under two hours and provides up to 7.5W of power to other devices via USB-A and USB-C.
