YOU’LL NEED iOS 17 or later

Imagine being able to make a big impression whenever you call a contact’s phone number. With Contact Posters in iOS 17, you can do just that by creating an image which automatically fills the screen of a friend, family member or workmate’s iPhone, putting you in control of how you present yourself.

As you’ll see, you can customise your poster in a number of ways. For maximum impact, you could use your own face, a picture of a pet, or a Memoji. Or, if you’d rather be more understated, you can simply use your initials instead – but even then there’s the potential to dress up the screen to make it more eye-catching with various fonts and colours at your fingertips.

Name dropping

There’s certainly a great potential to be creative here. You could produce a bold piece of artwork, save it to your Photos app and make use of it here, for example. You can also use a host of built-in filters. It’s possible to create more than one Contact Poster too, allowing you to produce different ones for different occasions – one to use for work, perhaps, and another for your close friends.

What’s more, you can use your Contact Poster in conjunction with iOS 17’s new NameDrop feature, which you can find out about on p50. By bringing your iPhones together, your posters will leap from one handset to another. David Crookes
