Security cameras aren’t normally thought of as cute – but that’s definitely the case with the Eufy Indoor Cam S350, which looks a lot like a little robot your kids might play with, right down to its huge endearing eyes. Those eyes in fact turn out to be the twin lenses for the cameras – one with a wide-angle lens offering 4K (3840x2160) resolution, and the other a 2K (2048x1080) telephoto lens. Together they have a hybrid zoom capability of 8x, plus AI tracking. This enables the camera to follow people (and pets) as they move around the room, ensuring they (almost) always stay on camera. Not so cute now, right?
Going hand in hand with the S350’s bulbous white head are 360° panning and 75° of tilt, enabling the camera to rotate on its base. On the bottom of the base you’ll find a USB-C port for power (a USB-C to USB-A cable and mains plug are included), while tilting the camera’s head up reveals a covered miniSD card slot. This enables you to store video locally, with up to 128GB of storage available (a 32GB card is supplied), or you can pay a $2.99/month (£2.35/month) subscription and have your video stored in the cloud. Sadly, the S350 doesn’t support HomeKit – which means you won’t be able to store any footage the cameras record on iCloud using HomeKit Secure Video. However, it will work with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Taking a closer look
Setting up and using the S350 is straightforward though via the free Eufy Security app for iPhone and iPad. This enables you to tweak various camera features (like Stranger and Pet Detection), view any recorded video footage and receive alerts. While the camera lacks a privacy cover, you can also set up both Privacy zones – areas where the camera won’t capture any footage – and invoke Privacy mode. This swivels the camera around to face a wall or other area you set and switches off the built-in microphone. It also has a speaker so you can speak to people or pets caught on camera and it can also sound an alarm.
In use, the S350 works well – we set the camera up in our living room and it was easily able to track our movements and send us alerts when it did so. Recorded footage can be played back via the Eufy Security app and being able to zoom in (the camera can capture objects up to 32ft/9.75m away) ensures you can take a closer look when needed. As you’d expect, image quality is excellent, even at the lower 2K resolution, making this a great security camera for keeping an eye on your home – only the lack of HomeKit Secure Video support really counts against it.
