Eggggg

What on earth is Gilbert eating? $2.99

- J.R. Bookwalter

Vomit would seem to be a questionable subject for a platform game, but that’s exactly what Eggggg – The Platform Puker is all about. In this action-packed, crazy experience, a character named Gilbert — inspired by the relatively obscure Norwegian movie Gilbert’s Revenge — must escape from mean Aunt Doris and navigate his way to a birthday party across town.

But there’s just one problem: Gilbert is extremely allergic to eggs, and his journey is thwarted at every turn by angry cyborg chickens. The only skill Gilbert can rely on is his ability to vomit like a fountain, which he must turn into a superpower to escape the clutches of his enemies.

The game is as absurd as it sounds, but it’s also a whole lot of fun if you like the idea of taking an old-school Super Mario Bros.-style platformer and turning it on its head, with a throwback to the gross Garbage Pail Kids days. Controls are smooth and touch-friendly, and there are 21 insane levels of vomit-fueled fun to, uh, hurl yourself into. There’s an iMessage sticker pack too.

?? ?? Perma-puking Gilbert makes his way across a surreal landscape, continually menaced by evil cyborg chickens. How’s that for a game pitch?
