ESPN

Live and on demand Free

- J.R. Bookwalter

Venerable cable sports network ESPN has taken the wraps off this redesigned Apple TV app. Rebranded with the network’s name rather than the WatchESPN moniker, the new app automatically launches into a live stream from one of the company’s networks when you open it, provided you have a cable subscription.

And that’s not all: The app now includes ESPN Video On Demand, a collection of on-demand videos providing hundreds of hours of curated sports content from its most popular shows, including 30for30, E:60, OutsidetheLines, SCFeatured, World SeriesofPoker, XGames, and more. One thing remains the same: You’ll need to authenticate with a cable, satellite, or streaming provider to enjoy most of these goodies.
