Had an alert that your iOS device has not been backed up in awhile or that a backup has failed? Try these tips... Connect the device to a reliable power source, say another charger, and lock its screen using the appropriate button. Check that the device is signed into the correct Apple ID. Verify that you have enough storage space for the backup. Go to Settings and tap your name at the top, then iCloud, to see how much space is available. Next tap Manage Storage > Backups, then the name of your device, to see how much space the next backup will take. Too much? You can opt to stop selected apps from backing up. The biggest are listed, in order of size; tap Show All Apps to see more — but make sure you’re happy to risk losing an app’s data before you choose not to back it up! Alternatively, go back two screens and tap Change Storage Plan to buy more space. Verify that backup is enabled for this device. In Settings, tap your name, then scroll down to the name of the device and tap it. On the next screen, make sure iCloud Backup is on. If you wish, tap this and try tapping Back Up Now. Verify that your Wi-Fi is working reliably. If you’re having problems with your network or router, try resetting in Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. You’ll need to reenter your Wi-Fi details and password. For more advice on problems backing up or restoring, visit
