How to Use a third–party password manager

Install an app

Many third–party password managers store more than passwords. Download one that integrates with Safari and apps in iOS 12, such as LastPass or Dashlane. Run through its setup process. We’ve picked Dashlane.

Change the default

In Settings > Passwords & Accounts >AutoFill Passwords, tap the password manager’s name. You can keep iCloud Keychain active alongside a third–party manager. Passwords will be managed by that app or service.

Sign in to a site

To test it’s working, sign in to a site in Safari. The QuickType bar will display credentials from your chosen app — with iCloud Keychain also on, a sign of which service the password is from, such as ‘— Dashlane’, is shown.
