How to Use Anchor’s recording and editing tools

-

Record yourself

The episode builder displays its major options on the left. Tap Record to capture your speech in isolation — we’ll look at collaborative recording next issue. Tap the red record button, allow mic access, then start speaking.

Record more audio

If you have no more segments to add to the episode, give the episode a title and description, review the publishing and social media promotion settings, then tap ‘Yes, publish now’. For now, tap ‘No, don’t publish yet’.

Account for editing

Tap Add Flag to mark part of the audio — because you know it’ll need to be trimmed or split apart in editing, say. Tap Stop when ready. You can now preview the recording, trim it if needed, and add premade music.

Editing basics

Use the red record button to add segments. They’re listed on the right; tap the ellipsis on a row to rename, trim, split or remove it, or tap Rearrange and drag segments using the three–line icons. Tap Save to finish.

Save the segment

Tap Save and give a name to the segment you have recorded. You don’t have to record the whole episode in one run, or record segments in their final running order. Set a name and then tap ‘Add recording to episode’.

Publish it online

Tap Publish (bottom right), review the options, tap Publish, then name your podcast, describe its theme, upload cover art and set a category. When asked whether to publish to major platforms, tap ‘Great, thanks’.
