Why does my new iPhone SIM show my old number?

Sometimes when you’ve changed both service and SIM, your old number may still be shown. Go to Settings > Phone > My Number, tap on your old number and change it to the new one. Then turn off Messages, power down the phone, start it up again, and turn Messages back on. Your SIM should no longer display the old number.
