Bring!

Making a shopping list just got easier

- Kenny Hemphill

Free From Bring! Labs AG, getbring.com Made for iPhone, iPad, Watch Needs iOS 9.3 or later (iOS 12 needed for Shortcuts)

Bring! is a shopping list app with a difference. For a start it works with iOS 12’s Siri Shortcuts, which simplifies the process of adding items to a list.

The second way in which it differs is that, rather than just show the name of an item, it displays an image. It’s far from essential, but it does make it feel more friendly than your average list app.

However, Bring!’s standout feature is the inclusion of recipe templates. There are plenty included as standard and you can create your own. So, for example, if you want to make Anthony Bourdain’s Bodega sandwiches, the included templates allows you to quickly add all the required ingredients — or only those you don’t have in the cupboard. Creating a template of your own is easy: Just select the ability to begin a new template, then add the ingredients for the recipe.

Support for Shortcuts means you can create a shortcut for any recipe template and add all its items to a list using Siri, or by tapping a widget on the Today screen. You can, as you’d expect, create multiple lists and share them with other users.

Bring! isn’t always as user–friendly as it could be. Tap an item on the list and it assumes you’re ‘crossing it off’ and disappears. You can readd it, but this can be a bit of a pain. On the other hand, using 3D touch to change qualities and settings always works well.

the bottom line. Bring! is a step ahead of your average shopping list app, with the recipe templates and Siri Shortcuts enough to make downloading it a no–brainer.
