The new Mac Pro and dis­play will need a fresh aes­thetic, al­low­ing for flex­i­bil­ity and mod­u­lar­ity — the op­po­site of the curvy uni­body iMac. What­ever the new look, it’ll surely prop­a­gate to other prod­ucts.

The iMac Pro could use a tweak to re­store ac­cess to mem­ory slots, but 2019 may feel too soon to change it, in which case other iMacs may also have to wait. Rul­ing out touch con­trol for Macs means that Ap­ple won’t em­u­late Mi­crosoft’s flex­i­ble Sur­face Stu­dio. Can Jony Ive come up with some­thing just as dra­matic?
