9.7–inch iPad

The cheapest iOS device will be due a revamp in 2019… won’t it?

-

Amid a flurry of new features at higher prices, 2018’s high point for bargain– hunting Apple fans was March’s $329 iPad. It’s Apple’s only 9.7–inch tablet, so an obvious 2019 tweak would be to bump it up to 10.5–inches.

One way for Apple to achieve that would be to substitute the lame–duck 10.5–inch iPad Pro, with its superior screen, A10X chip, and cameras. But given that model starts at $649, it’s not likely to drop far enough to become the new entry level.

Our bet is that the 9.7–inch iPad stays for another year, but maybe there’s room below the $799 11–inch iPad.
