Explained Ports and connectivity
Ethernet
You get Gigabit Ethernet as standard. Apple’s new 10Gb Ethernet upgrade is a specialist option for the likes of high–end creative pros and data centers using Mac minis as servers.
Thunderbolt 3
The latest version of Thunderbolt uses a USB–C connector. It’s versatile, so you can add the features you want, whether that’s a display, an SD card reader or even more USB–A ports.
HDMI 2.0
The Mac mini’s HDMI port has been updated to a more recent specification, so it can put out a 4K picture at a 60Hz refresh rate, as long as your display accepts an HDMI 2.0 input.
Traditional USB–A
Before you buy adapters to turn Thunderbolt 3 into USB–A, think about what you’re connecting. For low–bandwidth kit like printers, consider adding a cheap USB–A hub instead.
