Supercharged

-

With previous iPad Pros, Apple provided a 12W USB–A charger that would take more than four hours to take a fully drained battery back to 100 per cent. That’s often not a big problem, provided you remember to plug in the iPad Pro overnight to top it up.

We already knew that adding one of Apple’s 29W USB–C power adapters and a suitable charging cable reduces the charging time to around two and a half hours.

With this third generation of iPad Pro, though, Apple includes a new 18W USB–C charger that can take the iPad Pro from 0 to 100 per cent in just over three hours. Still not the fastest, but a big improvement — probably enough of one that you’ll be in even less of a rush to drop an extra $49 on the 30W USB–C charger Apple introduced a few months back (and bundles with the MacBook Air).
