WD My Cloud Pro PR2100
An all–rounder that plays nice with Time Machine
All four network drives on test impressed us with their range of features and the apps available for them. All were easy to set up and configure, with interfaces that were friendly and simple to navigate — though the WD and Synology stood out here. This round–up was about finding a NAS that worked well with Time Machine, and the WD My Cloud was easily the best, coming preconfigured out of the box. Add in its solid case, dual Ethernet ports that can be used together to increase throughput or with one as a backup for the other, and 4GB memory, and it’s a cut above the rest. It is, however, considerably more expensive than the Synology, and if you’re on a budget the DS218 is a good choice. But if you have the funds, the WD My Cloud is the best.
