How to Map no–go areas with Neato’s app

Fill its brain

The Botvac needs to know the layout of your room before you can tell it where not to go. On the main page of the app, tap the top–left icon and then No–go Lines to begin creating a floor plan — the Botvac will do an exploration clean.

Confirm ordinance

When it’s done scoping out your surroundings (and bear in mind that this can take a long time, depending on the area you’re expecting it to cover) the Botvac will return to its charger and present a map for your approval.

Block it off

Approve the map, return to the menu, and you’ll be able to drag red lines on to the map to stop the Botvac traversing. This might be doorways you don’t want it to go through, stairs it needs to avoid, or precious objects.
