You’re probably thinking it’s a cop–out to give every vac on test the same rating… Not in the slightest: they each have a lot to like about them, and then a small amount that isn’t quite so likable. Simple!
iRobot’s tireless work on improving its Roomba devices through the generations shows, as the 960 is an excellent cleaner with some serious smarts — but its overeager cliff sensor would force a change of decor were we to take it on full time. Eufy, or more correctly Anker, may be a relative newcomer to the scene, and its bot a tad less smart than the others, but it’s a bargain and offers Alexa and Google Assistant control.
Our favorite, though, is the Botvac D6. It’s a thorough cleaner, an adept navigator, and we really like the app.
The virtual mapping makes it the best choice if you’re rocking some tricky architecture (or a collection of potted plants), and its feedback is friendly and, thankfully, not as obtuse as the errors spat out by other apps.
