Satechi Keyboard
A stylish Apple alternative
$79.99 From Satechi, statechi.net Features USB–C rechargeable port, Bluetooth
Looking for a new Bluetooth keyboard for that 2018 Mac mini? Satechi’s Aluminum Bluetooth Keyboard has plenty to offer.
The first thing you’ll notice is that it looks great and is very well constructed. The second is that it has a numerical keypad, something sorely lacking in Apple’s own Magic Keyboard. The Satechi keyboard also has a button that allows you to quickly switch between devices — handy if you have a Mac and iPad/iPhone sitting side by side.
Setting up the keyboard involves nothing more than a trip to System Preferences’ Bluetooth pane. It charges via a USB–C slot and comes with a USB–C to USB–A cable.
We found the keyboard reasonably comfortably to type on, although the keys are smaller than those on an Apple keyboard and this might be an issue for users with bigger fingers. We also found it to be a little bit spongier than we would traditionally prefer. But, we soon got used to it.
the bottom line. There’s a great deal to like about this keyboard, if you don’t mind the slightly smaller keys.
