> Test 3 Scanner/copier

Good for more than just printing

-

These multifunction devices serve as scanners and copiers as well as printers, which adds a lot of value without wasting valuable desk space. The Canon printer has a flatbed scanner with a simple lid, but if you need to copy or scan multiple sheets at once you can’t go wrong as the Brother, Epson, and Kyocera devices all have automatic document feeders (ADF). The ADF in the Brother and Kyocera devices can take up to 50 sheets of paper, but they can’t scan both sides. Epson’s ADF takes 30 pages at a time, and it will happily copy and scan both sides automatically.

In terms of one page scanning at 600ppi, the Brother and Kyocera were joint first with 23 seconds, the Epson achieved 38 seconds, and the Canon took a pretty considerable 59 seconds. For copying one page at best quality, Canon and Brother took 84 and 86 seconds, the Epson took 58 seconds, while the Kyocera finished in just 11 seconds.
