BestPhotos 3.0

A powerful time–saving app for photographers

-

Free (IAPs) From Eric Welander, bestphotosapp.com Made for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch Needs iOS 14.0

Eric Welander’s BestPhotos is a really useful app that allows you to browse the Photos library on your iPhone or iPad to locate duplicate photos, or photos that are very similar, then delete them so you just keep your “best photos” that you really like.

Version 3.0 has just been released and, like earlier versions, is available as a free app with basic features for browsing through your Photos library, as well as IAPs that provide additional features. The free version is still pretty handy, though, and gains a helpful new Calendar view that displays just the

photos from a particular month or day. As you scroll through your photos you simply swipe right to mark each one as a “favorite” or left to delete it (although the app does ask you to confirm your choice before deleting).

If you’ve got a really big photo library, the Smart Search upgrade ($3.99) provides useful time–saving features, such as the ability to automatically detect exact duplicates, or just photos that look very similar. There’s a second upgrade option, called the Library Power Pack, available for $7.99. This includes all the Smart Search features and extras such as the ability to import photos from an external SD card or USB drive. This upgrade also includes the really useful Compare Mode from v2.0, which allows you to view two photos side–by–side.

THE BOTTOM LINE. A powerful time–saving app for photographers who need to organize their Photos library. CLIFF JOSEPH
