Scan and fix Wi–Fi networks $19.99 From Intuitibits, intuitibits.com

Needs macOS 10.13 or later

WiFi Explorer is a network scanner and analysis tool for Wi–Fi. It lists the Wi–Fi networks in the vicinity, including their SSID, MAC address, device manufacturer, signal strength, and more. It also provides a graphical illustration of the networks, so you can see where, for example, signals overlap or channels conflict. Each network is given a signal quality rating based on signal–to–noise ratio.

It supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and 20, 40, 60, and 80MHz frequencies. It works with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax networks. You can add your own notes to one column in the table, and give the column a label, as well as adjust timescales and filter results based on criteria such as vendor or signal band. Details can be exported in CSV format for importing into Excel or Numbers.

Wifi Explorer provides useful data about your Wi–Fi networks. It lacks NetSpot Home’s building survey features, but it’s also much cheaper. There’s also a $1.99 Lite version with the core features.

THE BOTTOM LINE. An excellent tool for analyzing Wi–Fi networks and troubleshooting problems. KENNY HEMPHILL
