WHEN APPLE REVEALED the new version of Safari that’s included with macOS 11 Big Sur, it said this would be Safari’s “biggest update ever.” As well as providing faster browsing and, therefore, helping to prolong your MacBook’s battery life, the new version of Safari is packed with features that make browsing your favorite websites easier. It also provides stronger controls to protect your privacy online.

The new features focus on three main areas – the revamped Start Page, improved privacy, and more versatile tab management. The Start Page can now be customized to suit your personal browsing preferences, with a new Options menu that allows you to select the sites and information that it displays, and even to select a personalized background image. Another key feature is the new Privacy Report, which provides information about advertising “trackers” that are trying to spy on your browsing habits.

It’s also worth noting that the latest version of Safari runs on Catalina and Mojave as well as Big Sur.
